Frequently asked questions

Will strength training make me bulky and look like a man?

Absolutely not. Unless you are taking testosterone you're not going to put on a massive amount of muscle and look like the Hulk. If you want that 'lean' look that a lot of women want, strength training is a must.

Won't I get injured?

Injuries happen and sometimes can't be avoided. Being scared of getting injured is no reason to not train. That's what makes it important to train under the guidance of a trained professional so you learn proper form and ways to cut down on the chance of being hurt.

How is training in a private gym different from a commercial gym?

I pride myself in creating a great environment for everyone to train. This is a family. The atmosphere is tense when it needs to be, but it's always a supportive atmosphere. We're all here to improve ourselves and be the best and strongest versions of ourselves. You will never feel uncomfortable.

Do I need to be an experienced lifter to train?

No, I train people of any age and all skill levels. We all start somewhere. Age/gender do not matter. All I ask is that you are fully committed to training and truly bettering yourself.

Do you do diet plans?

No. I am not a registered dietitian. I can only make suggestions, but hesitate to even do that. I did study diet courses in college, but since I am not a professional in that area I refer clients to registered dietitians for their personalized diet plans. Do NOT trust nutritionists or internet gurus.

What do I need to do before my first session?

I will email you a questionnaire for you to fill out and send to me. It will tell me your skill level, goals and a full health history. If you have any health issues, I need to know and I need your doctor to clear you for exercise before we can begin your training with me. Once you return that to me, we will schedule your free assessment and session where we can establish a baseline for your training.
